Challenge
Create a striking race livery for the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport R competing in the 53rd annual SCORE Baja 1000—a setting defined by strict rules for badging, identification, and numbering. The design needed to capture Volkswagen’s performance DNA, amplify the vehicle’s sense of speed, and align with the elite team developing the car, including Tanner Foust and Baja veteran Rhys Millen.

Solution
I designed an “R line” livery inspired by the angular dynamism of the Volkswagen logo. Bold yellow bands slice across the vehicle’s sides and up over the hood, accentuating the mark and visually pushing the car forward with energy and motion. The design adheres precisely to race regulations while elevating the Atlas Cross Sport R’s presence on the course. Under the hood, the race car is powered by a specially developed 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from Volkswagen Motorsport, capable of producing up to 600 hp and tuned to approximately 480 hp for an ideal balance of speed and reliability.
